Carl Pei Confirms That Nothing Phone 2 Will Run Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, Cites Performance, Battery, and Camera as Main Reasons

Nothing Phone 2 is going to be official any day now ever since we got to know that it will be releasing in the Summer of 2023. This makes it a great offering for those looking to upgrade to a more affordable phone that still manages to have all the cool factors attached to it. We have known that the phone is going to feature a Snapdragon 8 series processor, and today, Carl Pei has finally confirmed that it will be the revered Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in a series of tweets citing various reasons as to why the company went for the specific processor.

Nothing Phone 2 could pack a serious punch thanks to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, phone releasing later this summer

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is an overclocked variant that is found in several flagship phones from last year. While it essentially is an older chipset, it still performs adequately in almost all the tasks you throw at it. My Galaxy S22 Ultra uses the base variant, and I have not run into a single performance hiccup. Pei suggests that the company went with that specific variant for the Nothing Phone 2 because you get a performance boost, excellent improvements across the board, a great camera, and excellent efficiency.

Now, there are a number of reasons cited by Carl, including the fact that the Nothing Phone 2 performed significantly better when paired with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and compared to the original phone. There was an 80% boost in performance, making it a flagship-level device. In addition to that, you are also getting much better improvements across the board, such as battery, network, camera, and more.

Overall, the remarks shared by Pei make complete sense as the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 does deliver significant improvements over everything else in the market, and even on top of its variant. All of this combined ensures that the Nothing Phone 2 is going to deliver great performance through and through, and considering how it will be priced lower than some of the existing flagships of this year, you can expect some excellent performance and value for money from the phone.

Hopefully, in the coming days, we will learn more about what Nothing has in store for us, and we will be sure to keep you updated with all the information that we receive. Until then, stay tuned.
