Game Ready Driver Optimized for The Lord of the Rings Gollum Is Out Now

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Game Ready Driver

Yesterday, NVIDIA released a new Game Ready driver (version 532.03) for GeForce graphics cards. This new driver is optimized for Daedalic Entertainment's The Lord of the Rings Gollum game, out today on PC (and consoles).

Unfortunately, even with the new Game Ready driver, the game's performance isn't optimal. You can read more about that here; we also have a full review of the game, where Ule wrote:

The game's ambition is noticeable in many aspects but the way the game itself works is kind of wishing it was made by a more prominent developer. Don't get me wrong, Daedalic Entertainment has made a game that's still charming and recommendable in its own way. It's just that it needed a lot more polish before it was pushed out to the market.

If you're a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings mythos, I recommend giving this game a shot. You will have a great experience learning even more about the most emblematic creature in the history of medieval fiction. If you're new to the franchise and want to learn more about what made this series so beloved, I also think you will be thoroughly satisfied with the game's writing and such.

However, if you're the kind of player who wishes to see stunning visuals and deep mechanics alongside high replay value and stable performance, I believe that this experience will leave much to be desired. Because of this, I can only give it a cautious recommendation for those outside of the aforementioned niches.

The new GeForce Game Ready driver also adds official support for the new GeForce RTX 4060 Ti graphics card. Moreover, as detailed here, it boosts AI models and applications like Stable Diffusion by delivering twice as fast performance.

As always, the official release notes reveal that the new GeForce Game Ready driver fixed a few outstanding issues while others remain open.

Fixed Issues

  • [Age of Wonders 4] Application stability issues
  • [Bus Simulator 31] Ansel & Freestyle not working

Open Issues

  • Toggling HDR on and off in-game causes game stability issues when non-native resolution is used.
  • Monitor may briefly flicker on waking from display sleep if DSR/DLDSR is enabled
  • [GeForce RTX 4090] Watch Dogs 2 may display flickering when staring at the sky
  • Increase in DPC latency observed in Latencymon
  • Applying GeForce Experience Freestyle filters cause games to crash
