Take a Deep Dive into Instagram and Learn to Follow Topics and Hashtags Right on Your iPhone or Android Phone
Instagram is a fun place to be at, especially if you have found things of your interest. If you’re still exploring and want to get the most out of it, it’s probably a good idea to learn how you can follow topics or hashtags.
Why Follow a Hashtag?
You’ve come across a lot of hashtags on Instagram. They are used to identify a topic which the photo, video or Reel represents. For example, someone might post about their breakfast with the hashtag #breakfast. Makes sense, as that’s what it is. So, people searching for #breakfast will see the post in search. This ensures that particular post isn’t lost in the abyss therefore using hashtags in your own posts is a great idea, too especially if you want your account to grow.
Now, let’s say you’re interested in desk setups, you would search for ‘desk setup’, then go to the Tags section and choose the hashtag one which highlights your interest best. And, if you want to see more of this topic directly in your main Instagram timeline without having to follow multiple accounts, you can do that as well.
Once the hashtag is followed, you’ll get top posts from the hashtag in your timeline on a weekly basis. Instagram will show you high quality and most engaging content, ensuring you get the best posts in your timeline. Follow or Unfollow a Hashtag on Instagram
Step 1. Doesn't get any more obvious than this - launch the Instagram app on your iPhone or Android phone.
Step 2. Tap on the Search button at the bottom. It's the one that looks like a magnifying glass.
Step 3. Search for anything here. But for the sake of this tutorial I'm going with 'iPad Pro.' Tap on Search once you've entered your keyword(s).
Step 4. You'll see a bunch of results. Ignore them all and simply tap on the Tags tab at the top.
Step 5. You'll see a bunch of tags that are used against what you just searched. I'll keep things vanilla and tap on #ipadpro. Following the one with the most posts is ideal, unless you are looking for something specific so go with that.
Step 6. All the top and latest posts related to iPad Pro will show up here.
Step 7. Now that you're inside the topic, right at the top you'll see a Follow button. Tap on it and you're now following the hashtag and will get posts on your main timeline.
If you want to unfollow a hashtag, that is easy as well. Just open the hashtag once again, tap on the Following button and then tap on Unfollow.
Easy, wasn't it?
Once you've learned to do it once, you'll be exploring new topics like a champ.
There simply comes a time when you get bored of the usual stuff on social media platforms. Creators tend to take breaks, burn out, or just take a direction which might not suit you anymore.
