Samsung Has Ambitious Plans for Its Foldables This Year as Company Expects to Sell 15 Million Units, 60% Higher Than Last Year

It is more than safe to say that Samsung deserves all the credit when it comes to bringing foldable phones into the mainstream market, and honestly, for all the right reasons. Since 2019, the company has been trying hard to make sure that foldable phones have a spot in the market, and while it is true that they are not going to replace the S series of devices, it does not mean that they can't share a spot, and this year, the South Korean tech firm has some ambitious plans.

Samsung wants to ship 15 million units of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5, but it won't be an easy race

Now, based on the information received from @Tech_Reve, Samsung has already set a sales target for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5, and yes, it is an ambitious one because the tweet says that the company is planning on selling 15 million units this year.

The number is slightly ambitious, but what's even more ambitious is that it is 60% higher than last year. This means that the company is looking to sell way more foldable phones this year when compared to what it managed to do last year.

Now, i really don't blame Samsung. However, the one thing that you should know is that foldable phones are no longer just their specialty. Google just released the Pixel Fold, and it is already making waves despite not hitting the shelves, and we are probably going to see new offerings from other brands later this year. So, if the South Korean giant wants to make a dent, it will have to offer something unparalleled.

Samsung, at this point, is undisputed in terms of the hardware and software experience they provide. However, other companies are slowly catching up, and soon, the foldable market is going to be filled with options that people can go for. If the company wants to make sure that it ships more units this year and also enjoys stellar sales, then I cannot think of any time better than this to start innovating, or at least next year, since the new foldable phones could go official as early as July.

With that said, we should be getting the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 soon, and we are hoping to get some promising upgrades from Samsung. Let us know what your thoughts are on the next foldable phones and whether or not you are going to upgrade to the new phones.
