However, irrespective of that ridiculous price, a successor is not only said to be in the works, but Apple aims to expand its AR headset range with a more affordable option that is said to arrive in 2025. With the second version, @URedditor believes that the design change will be ‘derivative,’ but Apple may aim to use a simpler strap design.
We can assume that the Apple Vision Pro successor will be a refined version of the first AR headset, with the technology giant possibly exploring various ways to cut costs without compromising the experience. Even in the press images, Apple used a rather extensively decorated strap, which no doubt cost a lot of money to develop, so a simpler design will use up fewer resources, and at the mass production stage, Apple could see the price cut down to a few dollars.
Concerning the headset - yes, the second generation headset was planned even before the announcement of the first generation. Scheduled for PVT in 2025.
Design-wise it’s rather derivative, albeit with a simpler strap design.

However, given the billions probably spent on the first Apple Vision Pro, it might be a while before a successor is presented to the masses, as the tipster states that PVT (Product Validation Testing) is not expected to happen before 2025. For those that do not know, PVT is also known as the first official production run, where several teams check to see if the current variant is fit for mass production and at the targeted price.
Under ideal conditions, the devices that are a part of the Product Validation Testing phase are placed on the mass production line, indicating that they are ready for the mass market. If the Apple Vision Pro successor’s rumored PVT timeline is 2025, it can mean the headset might launch in the same year. However, the tipster has not provided a concrete answer for this, and since the second model is a couple of years away, we want to focus on the first version.
