NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8 GB Graphics Card Reportedly Launching In June Instead of July

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8 GB Graphics Card Reportedly Launching In June Instead of July 1

NVIDIA has reportedly moved the launch of the GeForce RTX 4060 8 GB graphics cards ahead of what was initially planned.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8 GB Graphics Card Now Hitting Retail Sooner Than Expected

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8 GB graphics card was originally planned for launch in July along with the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB variant. But it looks like NVIDIA has changed its plans & now planning to launch it earlier.

The information comes from leaker, MEGAsizeGPU, who is known for his GPU leaks and he states that the graphics card will now be hitting retail by the end of June. This is obviously good news for the majority of mainstream gamers who have been waiting to buy a next-gen GPU at an affordable price. The GeForce RTX 4060 is expected to retail at $299 US which is cheaper than the price of its predecessor, the RTX 3060, which had an MSRP of $329 US at launch. However, the RTX 3060 was not available anywhere close to its MSRP due to COVID-19 supply issues and the crypto boom. The card actually sold close to $500 US and was really hard to buy.

This has changed and due to lower demand within the PC market, GPU prices drop below MSRP within weeks of their launch. The most recent launches, Radeon RX 7600 and GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, have both seen prices drop below MSRP in just a few weeks of their launch. Whether the same is going to repeat with the RTX 4060 is a thing that remains to be seen but we will know for sure in the next few weeks.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Specifications

For the GeForce RTX 4060, NVIDIA is expected to utilize the AD107-400-A1 GPU, the fully enabled AD107 Ada die. Do note that the same configuration is used by the GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU. The chip is expected to feature 3072 CUDA cores and 8 GB of GDDR6 memory running at 17 Gbps memory speeds across a 128-bit bus interface. That gives the card 272 GB/s bandwidth which is effectively rated at 453 GB/s or 26% more than the RTX 3060. That's all thanks to the 24 MB of L2 cache.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 should end up with a 35% lower TGP than its predecessor, the RTX 3060 12 GB. The card is said to feature a 115W TGP but actual gaming power consumption should be around 110W with idle power rated at 7W and video playback power rated at 11W. The card will be available in various custom models at launch but there will be no Founders Edition variant for it.

The graphics card will be bringing Ada's class-leading GPU efficiency, ray tracing & AI performance down to a more affordable price point and also feature all the DLSS 3 goodness!
