Honor has teased its upcoming MagicBook X Pro Ryzen Edition laptops which will be utilizing the Zen 4-based AMD Phoenix APUs.
AMD Zen 4 "Ryzen 7040" Phoenix APUs Are Coming To Honor's MagicBook X Pro Laptops
Honor's China CMO, Jiang Hairong-Harrison, has teased the upcoming MagicBook X Pro Ryzen Edition on his Weibo account. The teaser was posted in response to several questions by users regarding a possible MagicBook X Pro "Ryzen Edition" launch to which Jiang confirmed that AMD Zen 4 is indeed coming to the laptop family.
There's not a whole lot of information posted since this is only a teaser but the company currently offers its MagicBook 14 and MagicBook X 16 Pro laptops with Intel's 13th Gen Core CPUs. The CPU options go up to Intel's Core i5-13500H and you get a 16/14-inch display featuring an IPS panel & a 1920x1200 resolution with 300 nits of brightness. You get dual SSD slots with up to 1 TB expansion and a 60Wh battery plus dual-channel LPDDR4x-4266 memory soldered to the board. The laptops come with a sleek body.
Honor also offers its MagicBook 14 series in Ryzen 6000 and Ryzen 5000 flavors but there is no Pro variant listed on the AMD side of things. So this will be a major deal for consumers who are waiting for Honor's Pro AMD options on the mobility platform.
We can expect both the AMD Ryzen 7 7840H and Ryzen 5 7640H CPUs and "HS" variants for global markets. The previous laptops were difficult to get hands-on in the global retail channel and that might be the case but we can expect the latest MagicBook X Pro Ryzen Edition laptops to come at very attractive price points, similar to the Xiaomi laptops which we covered here. These laptops cost between the $500-$1000 US range and offer a lot of performance with great efficiency which makes them a great office and general usage device.
