Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 Could End Up Bringing Dust Resistance and Samsung Confirms Its Working on Making it Possible

Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 Could End Up Bringing Dust Resistance and Samsung Confirms Its Working on Making it Possible

It has been two days since we saw the official announcement for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5, and while the devices were what we expected, both phones were still missing dust protection. They did offer water resistance, but that was the end of it. However, we now have a confirmation from Samsung that they are working on bringing dust protection to the foldable phones, meaning that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 could debut with this protection next year.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 offering dust resistance could make them foldable phones to reckon with, but we will have to wait for that to happen

In a press conference today, Samsung's mobile chief TM Roh revealed that the South Korean tech giant is working on bringing dust resistance to its foldable devices. This would make these devices ideal for those who haven't opted for them so far.  Considering the current crop of Samsung foldable phones does not offer dust protection, it is safe to say that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 could offer much-needed protection.

“We are well aware of consumer demand for dust proofing, and we are making various efforts to achieve this, but due to the nature of foldables, there are many moving parts, so dust proofing is difficult,” Roh stated, Remember that this statement is machine translated, so there can be some discrepancies, but you can pretty much expect dust resistance to be a thing.

Now, Roh also said that we are going to have to wait a little longer before this feature eventually comes to the Samsung foldable phones. If dust protection does end up coming to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, then these would be the first Samsung devices to get this feature as Motorola's latest Razor lineup does offer dust protection, but those phones are IP52 rating and not the IP68 or IP67 rate as we see. The generation of foldable from Samsung is already IPX8 rated, so all we need is dust protection, and we are good to go.

Considering how the new generation of foldable phones just came out, it means that we are going to have to wait for some time, at least until the end of this year or the start of next year, to start hearing more about the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. Whatever the case maybe, we will be sure to keep you posted as more details emerge regarding the new foldable phones from Samsung.
