It's 2023 and people are desperate to try something new, and a thought of something that can rival Twitter is definitely something most people want, especially after how the bird feels like it has lost its wings. Meta has confirmed that if you join Threads, you will be given a 500 characters word limit, which I believe is more than enough and almost double what Twitter offers to non-verified users. Twitter, at this time, is offering 280 character limit, whereas verified accounts on Twitter could go as high as 10,000 characters.
Honestly, the character limit on Threads might discourage some people from joining the platform, but I think it is more than enough, and it actually lives up to the microblogging nature of the website. I mean, Twitter started with 140 characters, then jumped to 280, and now can go as high as 10,000, which I believe defeats the purpose of the platform altogether. People are looking for information that is disseminated in bite-sized sentences rather than a massive page full of information that most people will not even use.
I believe giving Threads a chance is the right thing to do. The platform is relatively new and has crossed over 70 million sign-ups ever since it debuted.
