AMD is reportedly preparing its first enthusiast-grade laptop CPUs, the Ryzen 7000HX3D series, featuring 3D V-Cache technology with Zen 4 core architecture.
AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D CPU Reportedly Feature 16 Zen 4 Cores & 128 MB Cache For Enthusiast Laptops
There are no details provided beside the fact that AMD has prepped up a new family of CPUs for the laptop segment. The company already offers high-end Ryzen 7045 "Dragon Range" chips for enthusiast designs but we will soon be getting the 3D V-Cache treatment for laptops too.
A Weibo tech account (via HXL) has posted the first alleged specifications of an upcoming Ryzen 7045X3D CPU. This CPU features 16 cores based on the Zen 4 core architecture, 32 threads, and features support for PBO overclocking and tuning capabilities. The most interesting fact about it has to be its 3D V-Cache which offers 128 MB capacities. Just like the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, this chip comes in a dual-CCD configuration with 64 MB of stacked cache on one of the two CCDs and the rest of the 64 MB cache coming from the two Zen 4 dies.
No clock speeds or power ratings are mentioned but @Olrak29_ follows up with a specs sheet of an ASUS ROG STRIX SCAR 17 "G733PYV-LL045W" gaming laptop which further details the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D chip.

The clock speeds go as high as 5.4 GHz which is the same as the Ryzen 9 7945HX & we can also expect a configurable TDP between 55W and 75W. The desktop variant does support a higher boost clock of 5.7 GHz but it also has a higher base TDP budget of 120W. This particular laptop is very high-end with an NVIDIA RTX 4090, 32 GB of DDR5 memory, and a 240Hz IPS display and is listed at the Australian retailer, Computer Alliance, for a price of 5599 AUD or around $3800 US which seems to be preliminary for now.
These high-end 3D V-Cache boosted Dragon Range CPUs will definitely give Intel Raptor Lake-HX and the upcoming 14th-gen refresh parts a run for their money, offering amazing gaming performance and efficient operation versus the very power-hungry chips from the blue team.
- AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D - 16 Core, 32 Thread, 5.4 GHz, 128 MB L3 Cache, 55-75W TDP
- AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX - 16 Core, 32 Thread, 5.4 GHz, 64 MB L3 Cache, 55-75W TDP
This listing and the leak more or less confirm that AMD is bringing 3D V-Cache to high-end Ryzen 7000 laptop CPUs. There will be more SKUs including the 8-core and 12-core Ryzen 7 7745HX3D & the Ryzen 9 7845HX3D. Whether AMD introduces a 6-core 3D SKU for laptops remains to be seen but with that said, we can expect these chips and the respective laptops featuring them very soon since the product specs of various high-end laptops are already finalized by now.
